About Coronado Historical Association

Who we areWho we are.....

The history of this unique community is what led a group of concerned citizens to establish the Coronado Historical Association in 1969.

Through exhibitions at a local bank, lectures, and Christmas Home Tours, the Association grew in membership, collections, and prestige.

In 1987, the Board of Directors approved the purchase of 1126 Loma Avenue to house the first-ever permanent home of the Archives and to establish a Museum.

After 12 years of collecting and preserving Coronado's history, the Association's collection outgrew the historic home on Loma Avenue. In 1999, the Board approved a relocation proposal to the historic Bank of Commerce building at 1100 Orange Avenue. This move resulted in the creation of the Museum of History and Art. The Museum opened to the public in October 2000.

Our Mission is.....

To encourage and promote the appreciation, knowledge and understanding of Coronado's unique art, architecture, history and other historical resources.
